Modern, Engaging, Community Driven

WHQR

Wilmington, NC

The WHQR office space located in the heart of historic downtown Wilmington needed to reflect the modern, art-driven listening community that it serves. We wanted the street-level lobby to emphasize the WHQR presence through colors and branding, while creating an attractive art gallery for public visitors. The space had beautiful pine floors and cabinetry and exposed brick walls that inspired the classic modern design scheme. We chose to celebrate these existing finishes instead of replacing them.

The brick walls became the backdrop for the gallery – the focal point of the space. WHQR needed our help to design a hanging art system that would allow their rotating gallery of local artists to be ever-changing without creating holes in their new smooth walls or the historic brick. New gallery lighting fixtures made a significant impact to the space, increasing the amount of lighting throughout and using the fixtures to tie in the historic yet modern element once again. The renovation included a more functional kitchen and an overhaul of the dated bathrooms for a brighter, branded, and more beautiful space for the public.
