House of Zen

Wilmington, NC

After moving to the Southeast to be closer to family, these clients wanted to embrace North Carolina’s southern lifestyle, while also acknowledging their Colorado roots. Having a passion for yoga and spending time outdoors, they wished for a calming space that encourages relaxation and an appreciation for their surrounding environment. Their home—nestled on the edge of Hewlett’s Creek—has an open concept design, allowing us to embrace the view of the water and emulate the native elements and color palette.

Ocean air and beach tones come to life in the home with energies of driftwoods, sea glass shades, and a softer airy palette that bathes the home in light, calmness, and warmth. To contrast the coastal influences, natural earthy tones and custom elements were incorporated throughout the home’s design. A wood burning stove in the living room brings a mountainous theme to this waterside home, and a custom concrete vanity by Ash Creek Creations with an ambrosia wood apron in the bathroom gives the space diverse textures and unique character.
