A Fresh Start

Wilmington, NC

After twelve years living in the same home with the same décor, this client was ready to give her home a complete overhaul. We had worked with the client for years tweaking her home in small ways through draperies, accent furniture, artwork, but this time the client wanted it to feel like a brand new home. The home is featured in the March 2019 issue of Wilmington Magazine, where the client quotes “When we bought the house, the trend was chocolate brown, gold and burgundy, especially in the kitchen. All of a sudden, I realized, whoa, I don’t like that anymore!” It was time for an update; a place to escape and come together as a family. The client showed us one photo of a bright kitchen; this became the inspiration jump-off point for the scheme of the entire home. A clean modern coastal look was translated into lighter floors, quartz countertops, and an airy and light kitchen that seems twice the size that it did. Pushing beyond a brighter, updated coastal design scheme, we elevated the design with details of timeless glamour and functional custom elements. We lathered on fresh paint, brought in new light fixtures, a freshly outfitted breakfast nook, and every detail in between down to the hand soap in the bathrooms. We replaced the heavy, overly ornate materials of the early 2000s with softer finishes and impactful contrast.

Family was the client’s priority during the renovation. We wanted as little disruption as possible to their daily life. We had one chance to get everything perfect. With the help of Konrady & Son Construction and the trust of the client and her family, we completed one of the biggest residential transformations to date without any structural changes in an unthinkable timeframe of three months. The client exclaimed at the big reveal, “Every time I look at it, all I can think is ‘Why did I wait so long? It was a wonderful experience from start to finish. More than I could have imagined.”
