This client couple moved here from the San Francisco Bay area and sought our design help when they couldn’t find the quality and style they were seeking in local retail stores. They were ready to adopt the comfort and serenity of a coastal Carolina lifestyle, but requested quality and elegance to be reflected in the style. At the start of the project, we took the clients along with us to High Point Furniture Market where we had the opportunity to see the sparkling light fixtures, sit in the upholstery, and examine the quality of the case goods that would eventually be placed in their new home.
Starting with traditional furnishings, we layered in vibrant colors, unique contemporary accents, and interesting artwork. Each area expresses its own personality while remaining connected to the whole. We added an edge to the traditional dining room with a statement wall in Phillip Jeffries gilded grasscloth. The patterns in the window treatment fabrics add scale and interest, while the textures reinforce the natural surroundings of our region. [Photos by Meagan Forbes]
