Big Sky Design teamed up with the market leader at the Carolina Beach, Bryant Real Estate to develop a design aesthetic that expresses the professionalism and expertise of the business, while making clients feel comfortable. The new firm occupies what used to be a residential home in which Big Sky Design transformed into a functional and flexible office space. The main objective was to retain the character of the building, while introducing the Bryant Real Estate brand’s coastal, contemporary nature--a piece of the past, and a step into the future. Big Sky's in-house design team aligned the residential exterior aesthetic with the coastal ethos of functionality, layering a design narrative that served as a holistic reflection of the locale.
A memorable experience of great design is always about setting the mood and getting the mix of texture and materials just right. Upon entering, you step into an open concept reception and waiting area--an imposing blend of casual elegance and contemporary composition. The interiors greet you with a classic herringbone hardwood floor pattern, vaulted ceilings featuring cedar slats and a natural stain, black iron pendant light fixtures, soft sage walls, and plush upholstered furnishings. Steady angles, classic lines, and geometric shapes supplement a contemporary layer, while maintaining the character of the residential building. Inside the waiting room, interior walls built at mid-level ceiling height lend a raw aesthetic to the space. Coastal-inspired materials also play a role in defining the aesthetic: weathered wood tones and distressed finishes pay homage to the sights of the sea.
