Functional, Transitional, Optimal Living

Cambridge Village

Wilmington, NC

Our client’s vision for Cambridge Village focused on blending function and style, tailored specifically for an assisted living facility. Key requirements included higher and firmer seat cushions, locking caster mechanisms, and bleach-cleanable materials, ensuring durability and ease of maintenance. We aimed to repurpose existing furniture where possible by re-upholstering, while also introducing new pieces and accessories to elevate the environment. The overarching design concept was to refresh the space with a transitional feel, even though the specifics were somewhat elusive initially.

One significant enhancement was the strategic use of carpet and paint colors on each floor, which aided in wayfinding for residents. For instance, green elements were introduced on the second floor through carpet, paint, and eventually, drapery and artwork, making navigation easier. A standout feature of this project was the custom carpeting installed throughout the facility. This modern addition not only revitalized the space but also harmonized with its traditional architectural elements, bringing vibrancy and personality to the environment. The unique, custom carpeting served as both a functional improvement and an aesthetic focal point, perfectly complementing various accessories and elevating the overall ambiance of Cambridge Village.
