What’s the difference in decorating and design? Functionality. These retiring clients were thinking ahead in their full renovation of their kitchen and three bathrooms. They needed an efficient layout and updated finishes for ease of living for themselves, their children, and grandchildren. The kitchen had dark finishes and low lighting, so we eliminated the overhead soffit and upper cabinets to open up the kitchen, let in more light, as well as maximize pantry space and extending the bar for hosting family.
Over meetings at our studio, local showrooms, and the clients’ home, we selected new finishes, cabinetry, paint colors, hardware, tile, and lighting for a fresh look. In the kitchen we chose a white reflective cabinet finish so the natural light would bounce around the room, brightening up the dark space. We selected soft colors in a tonal earthy palette and let the modern, clean lines shine. The three bathrooms received a complete overhaul, replacing the dated woodgrain vanities with colorful, modern cabinetry complete with updated mirrors and light fixtures.
