With the renovation of this oceanfront condo already underway, our role in the project focused on shaping the finished spaces through furnishings, wallpapers, and layered details that would bring warmth and personality to the home. The homeowners envisioned their condo as a place to fully unplug, a retreat where they could step away from everyday life and relax by the coast. They initially gravitated toward an airy, restrained palette that would keep the home feeling calm and uncluttered. The renovation materials helped establish that foundation, particularly in the kitchen where white oak cabinetry and Taj Mahal countertops create a warm, natural base. A modern turquoise backsplash introduces a fresh coastal accent that subtly reflects the home’s seaside setting.
From there, the design evolved through layers of color, texture, and pattern. Fabrics, bedding, and wallpapers were carefully selected to add visual interest while maintaining a relaxed and balanced atmosphere throughout the home. Light wood tones and soft textiles reinforce the warmth of the space, while pops of color in the living room bring energy and personality to the otherwise restrained palette. Small details, like the tape trim on the living room ottoman, add refinement and intention to the design. In the primary bedroom, a custom headboard the homeowners already owned became the focal point of the room. Its sculptural form and playful pattern inspired the surrounding bedding and rug selections, which introduce teal and celadon tones at a smaller scale to maintain a sense of calm. That same thoughtful layering carried into the primary bathroom when the homeowner realized she needed a dedicated makeup vanity late in the project. A corner of the bathroom was transformed into a small vanity area with a midcentury inspired whitewashed oak desk and a custom striped vanity chair. The chair’s fabric matches the poufs we designed for the primary bedroom and is finished with a teal contrast welt that ties directly into the nearby wallcovering.
