Refined, Functional, Luxe

Seaside Serenity

Wrightsville Beach, NC

This home already reflected its owners’ refined coastal style—it simply needed its most lived-in spaces to rise to the same level. The kitchen, living area, and adjoining pantry were reimagined with that goal in mind: to bring function, warmth, and a quiet sense of luxury to the heart of the home. The renovation balances crisp coastal tones with tactile, organic materials. Cabinetry and finishes were selected to feel timeless rather than trend-driven, with shaker fronts, brushed brass hardware, and softly veined quartz surfaces that catch the light just enough. Throughout, white oak millwork and subtle plaster textures add depth and warmth, grounding the home’s airy palette with natural character.

One of the most transformative updates took place around the living room fireplace. The original travertine surround and ornate built-ins felt heavy and dated, so they were pared back to their essentials. A smooth plaster finish now frames the fireplace in clean simplicity, while a custom white oak mantle bridges the gap between the hearth and television, creating an effortless focal point. A band of green marble tile at the base adds just the right amount of contrast, sophisticated yet quietly striking. Elsewhere, function guided every detail. Roll-out drawers were added throughout the kitchen and bar, creating easy access to everyday essentials without cluttering the space. The tall pantry cabinet conceals neatly organized pull-outs for snacks and spices, while the lower bar cabinets hide a rollout for tall bottles and mixers. These small adjustments make daily routines feel seamless, pairing beauty with practical comfort. The once-utilitarian hallway between the kitchen and laundry room now serves as a cheerful pantry, transformed with custom cabinetry and playful Thibaut wallpaper that infuses the space with color and personality. It’s a perfect reflection of the home’s new rhythm, elevated but effortless, refined yet inviting. And while nearly everything was redesigned, one beloved element remained: the kitchen island. Its shiplap detailing and soft gray veining became the visual thread that connects the surrounding rooms, echoed in the hood design, wallpaper tones, and flooring. The continuity feels natural, as if the home has always looked and lived this way.

The finished design is a study in balance—crisp yet comfortable, classic yet current.
