Handsome, Textural, Cozy

House of Blues

Wilmington, NC

This project was all about refinement: bringing depth, texture, and a renewed sense of calm to two well-loved rooms while preserving the home’s original charm. What began as a wish for better lighting and updated furnishings became the foundation for a design that feels both handsome and inviting.

In the primary bedroom, deep navy walls created a rich, enveloping backdrop for layers of texture and tone. Warm wood casegoods, woven caning, soft knits, and smooth leather all play against one another, creating a space that feels grounded yet elevated. Each piece was chosen with intention. The nightstands and chest of drawers feature woven fronts and integrated wood hardware, while a black dresser with tobacco leather pulls ties everything together. Hardwired sconces above the bed add symmetry and focus, centering the space in a way that feels balanced and composed. The guest bathroom was transformed through subtle, thoughtful updates that balanced freshness with familiarity. The existing louvered vanity was refinished in dusty blue and paired with crisp white quartz countertops and nickel fixtures that add brightness without losing character. New wainscoting brought depth and cohesion to the room, and art inspired by nature introduced warmth and vitality. The result is a refreshed space that feels timeless, functional, and comfortably personal. Across both rooms, layers of texture, light, and craftwork come together to create a home that feels confident and complete, a reflection of care, intention, and the beauty of subtle change.

A study in contrast—deep color balanced by soft, tactile layers.
