Big Sky Mobile Boutique

Wilmington, NC

Good design is food for the soul. Inspired by the idea of a food truck providing convenience and an experience, “Bea” the Big Sky Mobile Boutique can bring memorable flavor to your summer party of get together. After purchasing the 1969 Shasta Loflyte camper from Craigslist, our firm’s designers collaboratively transformed it into a mobile design showroom. The end result is Vintage Glamour. Our designers approached the camper as we would any new design project. It began with a vision board. We pinned up our favorite mid-century fabrics, light fixtures that spoke to the era of the Shasta, and a shimmering tile backsplash we swooned over. We wanted to embrace the vintage qualities of the camper, so we worked around some of the original features, including the adorable avocado green stovetop. While the toilet and shower were sacrificed to make room for a wine fridge. We incorporated local touches like reclaimed wood paneling from Cape Fear Riverwood. The floor plan and construction were challenging because of the shape of trailer, but we teamed up with the talented team at King Post Builders to develop a plan.

The boutique is not only beautiful, but it doubles as a working camper with electricity, a stove, air conditioning, a full-size bed and bunk overhead. Taking “Bea” for a weekend trip is just one of many perks of being a Big Sky employee. Ask us about having the Mobile Boutique at your next housewarming, birthday, or girls’ night get together!
